How to Backup Your Documents?

DocScan automatically saves your documents on your device. To protect your data in case you lose or switch devices, we offer several backup options:

🔸 Cloud Backup

If you’ve upgraded to the SILVER or GOLD plan, DocScan will automatically back up your documents to the cloud — as long as the “Auto Backup” feature is enabled (it's on by default).

Two Backup Options:

  1. Automatic Background Backup

As long as the app is opened and Auto Backup is enabled, your latest documents will be synced to the cloud in the background — no manual action needed.

    Manual Backup on Demand

If you want to make sure all documents are backed up immediately (e.g., after scanning a large batch), you can:

    • Tap the Backup icon on the main screen

    • Choose Backup Now from the popover

With cloud backup enabled:

  • You can log into your account from another iPhone or iPad and restore a backup version.
  • You can also access your documents via the DocScan Web Portal.

🔸 Use iCloud or iTunes to Back Up Your Entire Device

If you're using an iOS device, we strongly recommend enabling iCloud or iTunes backup to protect your entire device — including your DocScan data.

Important Tips:

  • Make sure DocScan is not excluded from your iCloud backup list.
  • Restoring from a device backup will bring back your DocScan files if they were included at the time of backup.
  • This method is especially useful if you lose or replace your device.

🔸 Export Documents to Other Cloud Services

Available in DocScan Pro or BRONZE and above plans

You can export your scans to services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive to ensure access from other platforms.

Steps:

  1. Open the scan you want to back up.
  2. Tap the Export button.
  3. Choose your preferred cloud service app.
