How to Mark Important Cloud Backup Versions and Prevent Them from Being Replaced?
DocScan automatically keeps a limited number of cloud backup versions based on your subscription plan. When the limit is reached, the oldest auto or manual backup will be automatically deleted to make room for new ones.
🔒 Version Limits by Subscription Plan
Plan | Auto Backup Limit | Manual Backup Limit |
---|---|---|
Silver | 14 versions | 7 versions |
Gold | 30 versions | 15 versions |
Gold Plus | 32 versions | 16 versions |
If you have backup versions you don’t want to lose, we recommend starring them. Starred backups are protected and will not be replaced automatically.
How to Mark a Backup as Important
Tap the Backup button at the bottom left of the main screen.
Select Restore Documents.
In the backup list, swipe left on the version you want to keep. Tap Starred to mark it as important. *Starred versions will remain safe, even when new backups are created.
Why Starring is Important
Starring backups is the best way to:
- Prevent accidental overwriting of key document versions
- Keep a record of milestone versions (e.g., finalized contracts or edited drafts)
- Ensure important scans are always retrievable
