How to get the text whthin image?

There are two ways to get the text whthin image:

  • Get text from live text while browsing a document.
  • Get text from OCR result.

Get text from live text while browsing a document.

You can use Live Text to copy text in images, translate languages, make a call, and more.

Please follow the steps below:

  1. Select a document which you want to get the text.
  2. Tap the Live Text button in the lower-right corner of the image.

    You can also touch and hold a word and move the grab points to adjust the selection.


  3. You can copy, look up, translate, share the text and more.

    After you copy the text, you can paste it in another app or share it with someone. 



Supported Models

To use Live Text, you need an iPhone XS, iPhone XR, or later with iOS 16 or later.

Live Text is also available on iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation) or later, iPad Pro 11-inch (all models), iPad Air (3rd generation) or later, iPad (8th generation) or later, and iPad mini (5th generation) or later with iPadOS 16 or later.


Get text from OCR result.

  1. Select a document which you want to get the text.
  2. Tap on the "OCR" button in the toolbar of the screen.

  3. Activating OCR (Text Recognition). Wait until the processing is over.

  4. Tap on the “Text” icon in the toolbar of the screen.


  1. Select the text or share it.
